Professional Advice and Planning Grants extended to June 2009
If your farm enterprise is in an Exceptional Circumstance declared area:

This grant will:

  • assist farmers to prepare for and manage the risks associated with drought and climatic variability
  • assist in maintaining Australia’s agricultural and environmental resource base during period of extreme climate stress
  • assist in early recovery of farm businesses from drought or climatic variability.
    This grant is available to eligible farm enterprises until 12 June 2009.

The Professional Advice and Planning Grants (up to $5,500, GST inclusive) aim to enable eligible farm enterprises to access professional business, financial advice and planning assistance for the purpose of developing written business plans incorporating drought and risk management strategies.

Planning must commence with a viability assessment (if required). Remaining funds will be directed towards obtaining professional advice and planning assistance to develop a Drought Management Plan or a business plan incorporating drought and risk management strategies.

There is also the scope for the applicant to access an additional $2,200 to re-evaluate Drought Management Plans after a minimum of 6 months. To access the additional funds you must have completed a Drought Management Plan. Applicants must apply for and use the re-evaluation grant prior to the program end date.

Re-evaluation of the Drought Management Plan must occur before 30 June 2009.
